Fall Fur Fest is here!!!

The bear event of the season, Fall Fur Fest is this weekend! I'm so excited. Mark has the day off, so we have a plan. He's taking me to work, getting our shit together today (running a few errands that usually have to be done on the way to the Ranch), dropping Max off, picking me up from work at 5, then we'll head out of town. We should be there sometime between 6:30 and 7:00.

The meet and greet beer bust that we host (along with Ray, Brad, Brian, and Dewayne) will not get started until 8:30 so this year I'll actually have a chance to relax a bit beforehand, and maybe warm up a little with a couple of drinks.

We're hoping for about 300-400 bears from all over showing up. People ask what we do at these events...um, drink and laugh. It's a chance for people to get together with others like them and relax without any pretense. The weekend will have a potluck (I think), a bonfire, a campy drag show, and of course the FurBall (dance). Other than that it's drinking, talking, and riding around in golf carts.

Oh, and in case you're wondering...Mark and I designed the t-shirts again this year. The top image is on the pocket of the shirts and the image below is on the back. For all of you bears out there that camp and would like a shirt with only the image below on it, they will be available on my website Furball Studio soon.

Ya ain't blind

I know there's a glare, but yes - that says $1.99.

When the Texas average is $2.13 for regular unleaded, and places in Dallas are running around $2.19, I found gas for UNDER $2!!! That's right, for the first time in recent memory there is gas for $1.99/gallon. I smile every day when I pass before and after work - not that it's going to stay that way, but I'm going to stay filled up as long as it lasts!

Obama Wins!!!

As much as I was excited about this election, I was nervous. I wasn't going to say that Obama had won until everything was counted and everyone agreed...then McCain conceded. I teared up at the words "Barack Obama elected 44th President"...it makes me smile just thinking about it.

I think I'm still in shock about the whole thing. Last night I couldn't get enough of his acceptance speech and I have to say I think McCain's concession speech last night was great - one of his best of the campaign. I have a lot of respect for McCain, I just question his decision-making abilities (ie Palin.)

The world has been watching and the support is overwhelming. I think the rest of the world has been waiting for us to get our shit together and for the first time in almost 8 years we're taking the steps to do so.
